Some time ago, my wife helped a Swiss tourist in Ipanema, who said he had been robbed by pickpockets. Há algum tempo atrás, minha mulher ajudou um turista suíço em Ipanema, disse que ele havia sido roubado por pickpockets. He spoke terrible Portuguese with a heavy accent, and claimed to be without a passport, money or place to stay. Ele falou terrível Português com um sotaque pesado, e de ser reivindicada sem passaporte, dinheiro ou lugar para ficar.
My wife bought him lunch and gave him enough money to stay the night in a hotel while he contacted his embassy, and went off. Minha esposa comprou-lhe almoço e lhe deu dinheiro suficiente para ficar a noite em um hotel enquanto ele contactou sua embaixada, e passou ao largo. Some days later, a Rio newspaper printed a story about this “Swiss tourist”, who was in fact nothing but a creative conman putting on an inexistent accent, and taking advantage of the good faith of people who love Rio and, eager to exorcise the negative image which - fairly or not - has become our city’s postcard. Alguns dias mais tarde, um jornal impresso do Rio uma história sobre este "turista suíço", que foi, de facto, nada mais que um criativo conman colocando em um sotaque inexistente, e aproveitando a boa fé das pessoas que amam Rio e, ansioso para exorcizar a imagem negativa que - justamente ou não - tornou-se o nosso cartão postal da cidade.
Upon reading this news item, my wife’s only comment was: “well that won’t stop me from helping people.” Após a leitura deste item de notícia, minha esposa do único comentário foi: "bem-me que não irá parar de ajudar as pessoas."
Her comment reminded me of the story of the wise man who, one afternoon, came to the town of Akbar. Seu comentário fez-me lembrar a história do homem sábio que, uma tarde, chegou à cidade de Akbar. No one took much notice of his presence, and he was unable to interest the population in his teachings. Não teve um grande anúncio da sua presença, e que foi incapaz de interesse da população em seus ensinamentos. After a time, he became an object of laughter and sarcasm among the townsfolk. Depois de um tempo, ele se tornou um objeto de sarcasmo e risos entre os townsfolk.
One day, as he wandered down Akbar’s main thoroughfare, a group of men and women began to insult him. Um dia, como ele estabelece Vagabundearam Akbar da principal via de um grupo de homens e mulheres começaram a insultar-lo. Instead of pretending not to be aware of what was going on, the wise man went over to them and blessed them. Ao invés de fingir não ser a consciência do que se passava, as mais sábio que passou a elas e abençoou-os.
One of the men commented: Um dos homens comentou:
- Is it possible that, on top of everything else, this man here is deaf? -- Será possível que, em cima de tudo o resto, este homem aqui é surdo? We hurl abuse at you, and all you do is reply with beautiful words! Nós Arremessamos abuso em si, e todos os que você deve fazer é responder com belas palavras!
- Each of us can only offer the other that which is his - was the wise man’s answer. -- Cada um de nós só pode oferecer aos outros aquilo que é seu - foi a resposta do homem sábio.

Story - How the path was forged Story - Como o caminho foi forjado

In issue nr. Na questão nr. 106 of Jornalinho, (Portugal), I find a story which teaches us much about that which we choose without thinking: 106 do Jornalinho, (Portugal), eu acho que uma história ensina-nos muito sobre isso que escolhemos sem pensar:
One day, a calf needed to cross a virgin forest in order to return to its pasture. Um dia, um bezerro necessários para atravessar uma floresta virgem, a fim de regressar ao seu pasto. Being an irrational animal, it forged out a tortuous path full of bends, up and down hills. Sendo um animal irracional, ele forjou a um tortuoso caminho cheio de curvas, para cima e para baixo morros.
The next day, a dog came by and used the same path to cross the forest. No dia seguinte, um cão e chegou a utilizar o mesmo caminho para atravessar a floresta. Next it was a sheep’s turn, the head of a flock which, upon finding the opening, led its companions through it. Próxima tratava-se de uma ovelha por seu turno, o chefe de um bando que, após a conclusão da abertura, levou seus companheiros através dele.
Later, men began using the path: they entered and left, turned to the right, to the left, bent down, deviating obstacles, complaining and cursing - and quite rightly so. Posteriormente, os homens começaram a utilizar o caminho: eles entraram e de esquerda, virou-se para a direita, à esquerda, dobrados para baixo, desviar dos obstáculos, reclamando e cursing - e com toda a razão. But they did nothing to create a different alternative. Mas eles não fizeram nada para criar uma alternativa diferente.
After so much use, in the end, the path became a trail along which poor animals toiled under heavy loads, being forced to go three hours to cover a distance which would normally take thirty minutes, had no one chosen to follow the route opened up by the calf. Depois de tanto uso, no final, o caminho que se tornou uma trilha ao longo pobres animais toiled sob cargas pesadas, sendo obrigados a ir três horas para cobrir uma distância que normalmente ter trinta minutos, não tinha optado por uma rota a seguir abriu com o bezerro.
Many years passed and the trail became the main road of a village, and later the main avenue of a town. Muitos anos se passaram e se tornou a trilha a estrada principal de uma aldeia, e mais tarde a avenida principal de uma cidade. Everyone complained about the traffic, because the route it took was the worst possible one. Todos se queixaram do tráfego, porque o percurso que teve foi a pior possível um.
Meanwhile, the old and wise forest laughed, at seeing how men tend to blindly follow the way already open, without ever asking whether it really is the best choice. Entretanto, a velha e sábia floresta ria, vendo a forma como os homens tendem a seguir cegamente o caminho já aberto, sem jamais perguntar se ela é realmente a melhor escolha.

The warrior of the light knows it is impossible to live in a state of total relaxation. O guerreiro da luz sabe que seja impossível viver em um estado de relaxamento total.
He has learned from the archer that in order to fire the arrow into the distance, one must keep the bow taut. Ele aprendeu a partir do arqueiro que, a fim de incêndio na seta para a distância, um deve manter a proa taut. He has learned from the stars that only an inner explosion allows them to shine. Ele já aprendeu com as estrelas que apenas uma explosão interna lhes permite brilhar. The warrior notes that, upon negotiating an obstacle, the horse tenses its muscles. But he never mistakes tension for nervousness. Mas ele nunca cometer erros tensão de nervosismo.

Discipline and compassion Disciplina e compaixão
The warrior of the light always manages to balance Severity and Mercy. O guerreiro da luz sempre consegue equilibrar Gravidade e misericórdia. To reach one’s dream, one must have a firm will - and an enormous capacity for giving oneself up. Para chegar a um sonho, uma empresa deve ter uma vontade - e uma enorme capacidade para oferecer a si mesmo para cima.
Although he has an objective, the path leading there is not always that which he imagines. Embora ele tem um objectivo, o caminho que há que nem sempre o que ele imagina.
This is why the warrior uses discipline and compassion. É por isso que o guerreiro usa disciplina e compaixão. God never abandons his children - but His designs for Providence are unfathomable, and He builds our road using our own steps. Deus nunca abandona seus filhos -, mas para os Seus desenhos são Providence insondável, e Ele constrói nossa estrada usando nossos próprios passos.
Using discipline and deliverance, the warrior does not allow his gestures to become a routine. Usando disciplina ea entrega, o guerreiro não permite que seus gestos para se tornar uma rotina. A habit can never command important movements. Um hábito não pode nunca comando importantes movimentos.

Accepting destiny Aceitando destino
The moment he starts walking, a warrior of the light recognizes the Way. No momento em que ele começa a caminhar, andar de um guerreiro da luz reconhece o Caminho. Each rock, each bend welcomes him. Cada pedra, cada bend congratula-se com ele. He identifies with the mountains and brooks, sees a little of his soul in the plants, animals and birds of the field. Ele identifica com as montanhas e riachos, vê um pouco da sua alma nas plantas, animais e de aves do campo.
Then, by accepting help from God and God’s Signs, he allows his Personal Legend to guide him towards the duties his life has reserved for him. Então, ao aceitar a ajuda de Deus e de sinais de Deus, ele permite que sua lenda pessoal para o orientar, no sentido da sua vida tem direitos reservados para ele.
Some nights he has nowhere to sleep, on others he suffers from insomnia. Algumas noites ele tem em nenhum lugar para dormir, em outros ele sofre de insônia. He discovers the suffering of certain lost illusions, and the despair of bestowing too much expectation on important moments. Ele descobre o sofrimento de algumas ilusões perdidas, e no desespero de bestowing muita expectativa em momentos importantes.
“Such is the Way,” thinks the warrior. "Esse é o Caminho", pensa o guerreiro. “It was I decided to take this route.” "Foi decidi fazer este caminho."
All his power lies in this phrase. Todo o seu poder reside nesta frase. He chose the path along which he walks, and must not complain. Ele escolheu o caminho que ele caminha junto, e não deve reclamar.
