Last Thursday we had the first showing in Belgium of the first part in the human ascending series and afterwards discussion by her representative in the Netherlands Mr. Thierry de Wijn. The first film part which takes about 45 minutes to watch showed a hopeful image of the transformation human kind finds itself in right now. The image that caught most of my attention was the resemblance in the process of how a caterpilar changes into a butterfly. Researchers seem to have found that before the caterpilar changes, the new DNA that activates the Butterfly outlook is first rejected, attacked and distroyed within the caterpilar, to keep to its original form as long as possible. But after a while the new DNA program gets so active that it can no longer be pushed back and slowed down, with the result of changing the outlook of the caterpilar into the butterfly.
Same happens to us as a species. Before really changing, the old patterns defend new ‘DNA attacks’. JFK, Martin Luther King, Ghandi, are all ‘new DNA’ that is rejected at first and destroyed untill the change cannot be stopped anymore. The movie made me think of the fact that we all as individual beings have a programmed DNA to stimulate and challenge the old DNA program. That some of us will be challenged, some will encounter huge resistance, some will make the change come about and change the old humanity DNA into the new human butterfly. It let me think that we all might be part of a larger pattern where each plays its role , knowingly or not to bring the species into the new butterfly. It made me question how free we really are and to what degree we work out a higher program.
But that is the eternal question, no.
