Enjoyed a conversation with Douglas Vermeeren yesterday. He’s the Creator of The Opus movie, that we talk about endlessly, and enthusiastically, around here!
The movie shoot is complete now. Doug is confident that when people see what he is seeing in the rough cuts of The Opus that people will get excited.
I had to reply, this is a Douglas Vermeeren project, we’re already Excited!!!
This is going to be a wonderful film.
So excited about The Opus! An uplifting inspirational movie, with a story. Fabulous.

WOW! I was able to come back for the last day. we finished really really late last ngiht but it was worth it. To begin I kind of got found out. I didn’t know that doug and his team read this blog regularly, and this is the only place I have written. But at lunch yesterday they mentioned that they saw someone (me) was writing about the film online. They weren’t upset. actually he said that he was flattered. How funny. I really didn’t think that they were paying that close attention to what is going on online. Anyways, here’s my report. Yesterday we were on a big ship again, dressed in old costumes from the 1900’s. doug’s son Jared was there again. He looks so cute. And wow, that kid can act. And he looks so much like his dad. I really don’t much about the scenes except that jared (doug’s son) looks like he lost something on the ship and is looking for it. It was really fun to be involved in this film. and now that I know doug and his team read this: I want to say THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. This was the best movie set I have ever been on and it was an absolute pleasure to be involved. it’s always sad to leave a “movie family” once the film is finished, but I have to admit it was especially hard on this one. I certianly hope already there will be an Opus 2. This was nothing short of magical. and if the film is even a fraction as powerful as what we experienced on the set this will be an incredible movie that will touch hearts and change peoples lives. I can’t say enough good things about this experience. I wish Doug Vermeren the greatest success with this film and I will be first in line to come see The Opus.
THANK YOU for sharing! Joy is the point and for sure you’ve added to that here. We’re really hoping that you’ll continue to share this Opus Odyssey you’re on. We’ve enjoyed reading Episodes I, II, and III. You gifted us an amazing peak around the door at what’s to come. Your adventures are greatly adding to the story.
Opus Extra you are a Star. Thank you for being here. All at Cyres Cafe are appreciating yesterday’s report, this report, and are eager for more.
Excited for you!
Enjoy your Hot Tickets … and tell us all about it!
I’ve also added your fabulous report to the ‘Douglas Vermeeren, Creator of The Opus’ thread.

Well, My second day was great too. Doug gave everyone a cast and crew t-shirt. They are very nice. He also had every single cast and extra sign some Opus posters which are being auctioned for charity. I never felt like such a star. I am truly amazed at how doug and his staff have made everyone of us feel so importnat to this production. At lunch time he hurried to eat his own lunch so he could even take a minute to tell us (normally considered insiginificant extras) how appreciative he was and how essential we were to creating such a powerful film. He then gave us tickets for our family and friends to come and see us at the first screening of The Opus. doug’s assistant Jami and his other assistant Garth also told about the film. I had no idea this was as big as it was. It is pretty exciting. I was chatting with other extras and they also agree they have never had an experience like this on set. It was actually kind of electric. The other thing that was so interesting is that whenever Doug called for even the littlest detail from the extras - everyone was so willing to help or do anything required. There was not one sound of grumbling. ( I think other Movie directors could really learn something here.) I didn’t know too much about doug Vermeren before this - but now I must confess I am a die-hard super fan and can’t say enought hings about this guy. I can understand now why so many people love him. Scott duncan played Violin again today and we were in many concert type scenes. I am guessing he is the lead role. He is an amazing violinist. I don’t know if I am back for another day - but tomorrow is the last day. I did tell a few other friends on the set about this blog and one of them said she was so impressed she will also write about what’s happening too.

I was at the event on Jan 9. It was at the university of Calgary. Doug did an awesome job. He is such a great speaker and it was an awesome way to begin the new year. Doug is truly the acheivement expert. I now feel more confident in being able to set and reach my goals for 2008. I am also very excited about the Opus. This is going to an incredible film. I spoke with him after the event and I heard him say that most of the gang from The Secret (Jack Canfield, Morris Goodman, Bob Doyle, Marci Shimoff, John DeMartini, Joe Vitale etc.)did make the final cut into the movie. So I was excited about that. One of my favorite parts of the evening was after the event. Doug took time and chatted with a group of us and shared some stories and insights from the making of the film. He talked about some of the challenges he bumped into and also some of the really cool stories on how things have worked out so wonderfully. I asked him if they were going to be on the Oprah Winfrey show and he just smiled and said we’ll see. But I am sure that was a disguised YES. He also talked about the story in The Opus. He also said they are doing things very different than The Secret. Wherin the Secret had small cutaways with illustrations from the speakers about the law of attraction, The Opus actually has a story that follows one character through the film. He also said that in one of the scenes both he and his wife are acting. Which I think is totally incredible. She is very beautiful. I heard a story that they actually met on a movie set. I also heard him say that they have many highly accomplished Hollywood people helping put the film together. The camera man for the story segments I think was from Brokeback Mountain, and the costumer has done dozens of hollywood films too. I am SO excited to see this film I can’t even describe it. And he said the first screening will be in Los Angeles in mid-march.I I plan on being there. And a calendar will be posted on The Opus website shortly with other dates and locations. That’s all for now.
Who will be up next with more information on The Opus movie and Douglas Vermeeren?
Thanks to Kim for this great update today, on Doug Vermeeren and The Opus movie:
I heard Doug Vermeeren speak last night for the first time. Great job. I was really inspired. He talked about the importance of Decision in the achievement process. He did talk a little bit about the Opus movie. it sounds really exciting. Outisde in the hallway they had all kinds of impressive banners for the film. It looks like its going to be a great film. I have to admit it also looks like a much bigger production than what I had thought it would be. I was thinking it was going to be a well-made low key DVD like The Secret. But it looks more like a major Hollywood release. Thanks for keeping us in the loop on this blog. I’ll be watching and reading.
