I talked with a Friend this morning about challenges she’s having with making the best decision for her when people are “putting me on the spot” with regards to an action.
She realised that it suits her most when she gives herself a breather and these replies can help her:
“I’m not certain if I have the time to do ……. so I’ll let you know [state when … and honour that].”
“I want a little time to think about it. I’ll call you back [state when … and honour that].”
“I want a bit of time to check on some things. I’ll call you with an answer as soon as I know. When are the best times to call you?”
“Let me get back to you with an answer, after I check my schedule.”
“I can’t give you an answer now. I’ll be back to you very soon.”
“I may have a conflict, I’ll check, and get back to you with an answer as soon as possible.”
Breathe. Take the time, your time, to choose and to create feelings of relaxation, clarity, calm, and childlike curiosity, which means that you are becoming the possibility of seeing as many options as possible. Then you can clearly choose the best one for you in that moment of decision.
To create a clear picture, tune out of the interference in your mind. One of the best ways to do this is to consciously breathe deeper and to relax your muscles, as this relaxes your mind.
