A famous Sufi master was invited to give a course in California. Un famoso maestro sufi è stato invitato a dare un corso in California. The auditorium was full at 8AM - the time announced - when one of the assistants came onto the stage. She was standing on the sidewalk of Atlântica Avenue with a guitar and a hand-written sign that said: “Let’s sing together.” Era in piedi sul marciapiede di Atlântica Avenue con una chitarra e una mano-scritti segno che ha detto: "Let's cantare insieme".
She began to play alone. Ha iniziato a giocare da solo. Then a drunk arrived, then another old lady and they began to sing along with her. The traps of searching Le trappole di ricerca

Just as people are beginning to pay more attention to things of the spirit, another phenomenon is taking place: intolerance towards the spiritual searching of others. Proprio come la gente sta cominciando a prestare più attenzione alle cose dello spirito, un altro fenomeno è in atto: l'intolleranza verso la ricerca spirituale di altri. Every day I receive magazines, e-mails, letters and pamphlets, all trying to prove that such and such a path is better than the other and containing a series of rules to reach “enlightenment”. Ogni giorno ricevo riviste, e-mail, lettere e opuscoli, tutti cercano di dimostrare che tale e tale percorso è migliore rispetto alle altre e che contengono una serie di regole per raggiungere "l'illuminazione". Because of the growing volume of this sort of correspondence, I have decided to write a little about what I feel to be a danger in all this searching. And it seems appropriate to remember the theme now that a new year is stretching out before us. E sembra opportuno ricordare che il tema ora che un nuovo anno è stretching prima di noi.

Men can never stop dreaming. Gli uomini non può mai smettere di sognare. Dreams are the food of the soul, just as food is to the body. Sogni sono il cibo dell'anima, come il cibo è per il corpo. In our existence we often see our dreams come undone, yet it is necessary to go on dreaming, otherwise our soul dies and Agape does not penetrate it. Nella nostra esistenza abbiamo spesso vedere i nostri sogni venire annullata, ma è necessario andare sul sognare, altrimenti la nostra anima muore e Agape non penetra. Agape is universal love, the love which is greater and more important than “liking” someone. Agape è l'amore universale, l'amore che è più grande e più importante di "simpatia" qualcuno. In his famous sermon on dreams, Martin Luther King reminds us of the fact that Jesus asked us to love our enemies, not to like them. Nel suo famoso discorso sogni, Martin Luther King ci ricorda il fatto che Gesù ci ha chiesto di amare i nostri nemici, non per come loro. This greater love is what drives us to go on fighting in spite of everything, to keep faith and joy, and to fight the Good Fight.
