SONG A WEEK 17 - PRETTY BLUE EYES by Heather Renee

Popularity: 7% [?]

This week’s song was recorded in Jammin Java Studios. Jarred Bartlett played guitar and engineered the song. One of my favorite Maryland, based singers, Nile Garner, sang harmony.

I wrote this song for an ex-boyfriend. Though our relationship only lasted a season, this song still personifies that brief moment in time.

I hope you enjoy it J

Always sending love your way,

Heather Renee

Hearing “G ” and.. other “stuff”..

Have you, dear reader(s), mysterious and friends- ever had something happen to you that is.. well, ummmm.. rather strange?? Something that- after you are able to somewhat rationally try to proccess the event, it just makes you say “Huh?!??”.. and causes you to be insatiably curious about “what-does-it-mean”?

WELL. Several days ago I did have one of these events, and I decided to share it with you. Why? I dunno. Just because it’s pretty interesting, and?? Maybe this event isn’t as rare as I might be thinking it is; perhaps it’s just something people don’t care to talk about? I really cannot say for sure. I just am wondering IF anyone else “out there” who happens to read these words that I type- and toss into this grand “Uni~verse” would want to let me know. Something like, “Oh, yeah- this sort of thing happens to me a LOT!”. *LOL*

Umm.. so what was this strange event, you might be thinking. WELL. It started off by my “feeling” a particularly strong conviction about a particular “petition” that I am already “seeing” as having been done. That’s not the strange part. It gets better.
Then, I was reading someone’s blog posting- and.. I became a “little annoyed”.. and- decided to (in my momentary fit of.. I gotta DO SOMETHING!) angst, sent a few e-mails. THEN, I decided to return to that blog posting, as I was curious to view what other individuals were thinking. AND- while I was reading several comments that were agreeing with my “heart-AND-soul” felt conviction- I heard AND felt a musical tone that reverberated in the air around me for about twenty seconds. Huh. It made the hair stand up all over my body, and sent chills, with those awesome (one of my friends coined a NEAT phrase for this!) ~god*bumps~! W-O-W!! Kinda.. weirdawesomeprofound all at the same time.

Please keep in mind that I have absolutely NO knowledge of music notes, tones- all I do know is there’s something called a scale, which I cannot even tell you the letters. Umm.. A,C,F,G,E?? Truly- I will “google” this (maybe) later; BUT- I just KNEW that if I could FIND that particular tone, I would be knowing it instantly. Being able to actually HEAR this tone again has been a “sort of” obsession for the past several days. Last evening, I hit pay dirt!! Yep… I LOVE modern technology! Whew. I did not manage to answer my question of.. “How common IS this kind of event, anyway?”, but thanks to that wonderfully advanced YouTube site… I FOUND the tone!! By the way? It’s “G Sharp”.. not.. flat. I DID figure this one out. *LOL*

So. I have decided to simply “let-it-go”, and continue on with my life. *LOL* Life’s w-a-y too short to waste time with the “Why??” questions. Sometimes there are no answers- just amaSING (YES, I meant that!) happenings. I sort of wonder, though, if there had been like 5,000 people in a room with me when I heard and felt that tone… would others have experienced the same thing? I’m “thinking” the probability is.. pretty low. WHY? Well- because each one of us is a unique individual, and perceives (and receives) information differently. That’s all. I am just pretty “Happy-Being-me”. AND, I am just wanting to share a curious happening with you, dear reader(s). OH!! Yes, I almost forgot. “Happy Sparkle Thoughts”!! *LOL* Aaaahhh.. I “feel” SO much better now. Sometimes the music of this “Uni~verse” is pretty awesome!

SONG OF THE WEEK 16 – DC PARKING by Heather Renee

Popularity: 13% [?]

For my birthday I decided to record in one of DC’s most respected recording studios, LISTEN VISION.

I chose the song “DC PARKING” and worked with an incredible producer and engineer named Scotty Beam to bring it to life. He took my original recording and made a fantastic new and improved version. I look forward to doing more songs with him in the future.

Having lived in Washington, DC for over two years I have learned that the parking and traffic situation can be quite frustrating. I wrote this week’s song entitled “DC Parking” after getting two, yes you read that right, two parking tickets on the same day. How did this happen you might wonder? Well, it all began so innocently. I parked in a space after carefully reading the sign (which can get really confusing let me tell you) and went to visit a dear friend. When I got back however, my car was missing in action. So after much panic and a slew of frantic calls, I finally learned that my car had been towed. I was furious because I had followed the instructions on the sign sooo carefully but yet my car had been snatched by the mean parking police. So I had to metro all the way across town to parking services to pay for my car only to find out that my car had been the victim of what they refer to in DC as a “courtesy tow.” This is when they tow your car in order to do street work but don’t charge you for it because it was at no fault to you. The thing is that they move your car somewhere else without coordinating with parking services about the new location. So I had to trek back and wander the streets in order to find my car. I finally located it two streets from where I had originally parked with a big shiny pink ticket in my windshield. Yes, they had been so kind as to courtesy tow me to an illegal parking space. Grrrr!!!!! So I had to drive all the way back to parking services to dispute my new ticket. Again I read the signs carefully and went in to argue about the ticket only to wind up paying it in order to avoid the mountains of red tape they make you suffer through. So I left their office defeated and worn down only to find ANOTHER FREAKING TICKET on my windshield. I was not the happiest person in the world to say the least. LOL. I read the sign again and discovered that I had failed to see a little tiny clause that said I could park there any day from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. EXCEPT Thursdays. Yes, sadly it was a Thursday!!! So after paying yet another ticket I came home and wrote this song. If you are ever in DC blast this song as you search for a parking space!!! At least you will know that you are not alone. I share your pain!!!

Sending love your way,

Heather Renee

SONG OF THE WEEK 15 – SOLD by Heather Renee

Popularity: 6% [?]

Yay, she’s done it again! Heather, Dear Heather, has created another fresh field of sound. She writes:

This week’s song is entitled “Sold.” It is about a girl who was abused as a child and as a result, finds it hard to connect with people as she gets older. She eventually ends up working as a prostitute. Having learned to use her body and sexuality as a tool to get affection, she leads a lonely life, unable to find real love.

I recorded this song years ago in a studio called NightFlight based out of Maryland. It was produced into a more danceable track by Silvio Pasareck. Although the first recording was very popular, I decided to re-record it this week completely acoustic so that listeners could really hear the words. I hope you like it.

Sending love your way,

Heather Renee

SONG OF THE WEEK 13 – MALADY by Heather Renee

Popularity: 6% [?]

Another week, another Heather song :-) This week it’s called ‘Malady‘ and Heather writes:

I am a huge Queen fan. Having discovered their music long after Freddy Mercury had died; I was traumatized to find out that my favorite male lead singer had left us too soon due to AIDS.

This week’s song is entitled “MALADY.” I wrote it in honor of Freddy Mercury.

It is about someone who contracts the AIDS virus and unknowingly gives it to the love of their life. There were many times when I was careless and by the grace of God managed not to be stricken with any sexually transmitted diseases. It breaks my heart to know that some were not so lucky.

Finding true love is already hard enough. It just doesn’t seem fair that some people have to suffer graver consequences than others. It is a sheer tragedy that some of those consequences can even be fatal.

Freddy Mercury….this one’s for you babe. I hope you’re singing your heart out somewhere beautiful and that someday I get to hear you live J

With Love Always,

Heather Renee

SONG OF THE WEEK 12 – ELECTRIC CAR by Heather Renee

Popularity: 5% [?]

from Dear Friend, Heather:

About 2 years ago a movie came out on the independent circuit called “Who Killed the Electric Car?”

It is about the oil industry and the power it has over our economy. It shows how we have become enslaved by the oil moguls and their unending thirst for wealth. Technologies that could have expunged our need for oil are destroyed while we the people pay and pay for illegal wars, rising gas prices, and an environment on the brink.

This movie will shock you and if you haven’t seen it please order it online and check it out. It is a must see!!!

Here is the trailer:

WHO KILLED THE ELECTRIC CAR?

This movie really impacted me. I came home and wrote this song the same night I saw it. I call it “Electric Car.” I hope you like it.

Sending love your way,

Heather Renee
