When Joseph Campbell, today’s most famous scholar of mythology (and author of the excellent “The Power of Myth”) created the expression “follow your blessing,” he was reflecting an idea that seems to be very appropriate right now. In “The Alchemist,” this same idea is called “Personal Legend.”
Alan Cohen, a therapist who lives in Hawaii, is also working on this theme. He says that in his lectures he asks those who are dissatisfied with their work and seventy-five percent of the audience raise their hands. Cohen has created a system of twelve steps to help people to rediscover their “blessing” (he is a follower of Campbell): (more…)
We make our debut in this body on this blue planet, bare, blank, brilliant, and more often than not, bawling … because someone has smacked our butt! Does that still happen?! I’ve only been in a delivery room - for babies, that is (multiple times for giving birth to projects) - once … and I was the one being smacked!
We arrive and know nothing about where we’ve been and nothing about where we’ve come to and nothing about where we’re going to.
We are a pure blank canvas. A manifesting and allowing super-structure!
And then, before we have a chance to catch a breath, people start painting all over us, their idea of what we must know and how we should live our life, and they never stop until we leave this planet … unless!
They paint resistance all over us unless we stop it and give ourselves space to breathe.
There’s always someone determined to make an impression on us, so I call them the Impressionists!
We are taught about who we are. Defined this way and that, by culture, race, tradition, all from way back when. Way way way back into the past.
But who knows the truth? Who knows most about who we really are?
If the answers are all around, what are the best questions?
Do you have nightmares? When you’re sleeping, that is!
Do you remember bits of the nightmare?
What if there was a treatment that results in no more nightmares?
Two clinical trials are in progress for a new treatment for bad dreams, using imagery rehearsal therapy to eliminate nightmares in people who have them three or more times a month. This is being trialled at Utrecht University and Symfora Groep Centre in Holland, just round the corner from The Cafe of Dreams (only sweet dreams here!).
The idea is to train the brain to come up with happy endings to the story of the nightmare.
People are taught ways to use the pieces of the story that they remember to slowly create a nicer dream. They rehearse this for up to 20 minutes a day.
Early studies reveal that 3 - 6 months later, the number of nightmares reduces.
What would happen if we rehearsed the most pleasant parts of our ‘real’ dreams, using imagery, for up to 20 minutes a day?
Abraham, speaking through Esther Hicks, explains why appreciation is so powerful in transforming our experience, as well as how we can cultivate appreciation, how we can use it, and why an emphasis on gratitude is less effective.

This time of year is all about giving, so ‘The Taker’ comes in perfect timing!
The more you have to give, the more you can give.
When we give, we receive … and we don’t have to give away who we really are in the process. We can become more of who we really are, and that’s what The Taker is about.
I’d like to give you something special - so take a look and treat yourself by opening The Taker Club Calendar window.
We’re counting down the days to launch … now only one more day to go! Be there. Be square.
Then you get to open The Circle window. It’s Celebrations all round tomorrow at 8, because at last we LAUNCH!
Giving to you an opportunity to see things from a different perspective.
Inviting your mind to broaden its focus as wide and deep as it will expand.
You can have your cake and experience it.
Now you can know next level reality.
